Dried, hollowed out gourds have been used by people all across the globe for thousands of years. They have been used for bowls, vessels, containers, musical instruments and for decorative purposes. There are so many things you can do artistically with gourds! I use a variety of tools to craft my gourd lamps: saws, drills with tiny drill bits and carving burrs, sanding balls, dyes, paint, and beads. Every gourd naturally has different colors and markings, so every lamp I make is unique! My goal for each lamp is to make a statement both during the day and at night when it is glowing with light.
